about

"Music is meant to be shared" - this is the defining ethos of pi pi pi, a multidimensional platform manifested for the music lovers, listeners, and dancers of our known universe. Whether it’s taking shape as a digital haven of music sharing, a conductive frequency of electrifying amusement, or a side quest with a friend in a lucid dream, pi pi pi has existed as an amorphous zone of (un)reality to inject some spritely silliness and funny fun back into the seriously serious seriousness too often found encroaching the joys of danceable electronic music.

True to its inquisitive nature and quest for fluidity, pi continues to evolve into new & enticing forms - this time, expanding it’s amoeba into a label and connective energy accumulator to bring forth Oscar Huang's debut EP "Slipstream". This first EP release for both pi & Oscar is a collection of tender dispatches recorded amidst the tumultuous landscape of the pandemic, but centered on motion and transcendence in spite of that.

"Slipstream" accesses the mentality of a dreamer pushing beyond the confines of their reality, creating one’s own space for serenity, and the transportative realms music can truly take us to. Much of these visions revolve around Oscar’s upbringing in Pasadena, California, & the west coast’s affinity for smoked-out jungle, sunkissed breakbeat dexterity, and party starting Miami bass. Visions of sprawling canyon drives with friends, high speed velocity through pixelated raceways in Gran Turismo, and the fever pitch of raving in his adopted home of NYC serve as the sensory backdrop for Oscar’s fluttering dispatches from the depths of the hardcore continuum.

“Adapting” kicks off with an elegantly smooth electro glide, refracting light amongst specks of morning dew or under the orange glow of fading sun - every aspect of it makes it easy to imagine the first sparks of movement igniting at the beginning of a rave, anticipating the joy of dances to come while hearing it. If “Adapting” summons the energy outwards, “Odolbos” conjurs the infinite source of energy within - cranking the velocity skywards, letting the tectonic sub resonance rumble, & throwing care to the wind even as you might find yourself lamenting a beautiful moment’s passing in time. A narrator’s voice in the distance echoes “& the only thing to fear, is that the magic would end…”, juxtaposed over a bass heavy embrace to remind us that the magic could never TRULY end. After all, anything that appears “finite” is simply our perception of a “thing” in an infinitely expanding universe, right? & the only thing to fear, is fear itself! The introvert's partyrocker anthem for the ages.

Raising the bpm way way way up is the rollicking junglist’s paradise of “Hashiriya'' - translating to “One who enjoys riding at high speeds”. Vroom vroom! With it's foot firmly on the gas & it's velocities aimed skywards, “Hashiriya” is a distillation of the most timeless elements of mid90s UK soundsystem jams, when the auras were potent & the genres as loose as the beat grids - just dreamtraveller pads, crooning vocal chops, & vibes (& pingers). Sharing some kindred smile energy directly with the flora-adorned dancefloors of Brooklyn, “No Phones on the Dancefloor'' is the extroverted UK to West Coast ‘lectrobreakz party banger we need as a society - gun fingers pointed towards the sky, backspins opening portals of time & space, and the most wiggly synth line that’s ever synthily wiggled through the fog & lights.

Whether they’re channeling the inventiveness of proto-garagedubstepelectrobass’s genre melting good vibes or high octane Dreamcast breaks, Oscar’s music always ignites a desire to seize the moment & let your inner flame burn brightly - an evergreen reminder of how important it is to let loose and just let yourself be.

It’s hard not to imagine blasting any of these tracks, top down, burning rubber, & releasing your inhibitions cruising down rainbow road’s most vibrant celestial highways - “Feel the rain on your skin, no one else will feel it for you, only you can let it in” as they say.

Providing the ultimate in high quality rip for the supercomputer CDJs of tomorrow reminiscing upon the dancefloors of today, these 4 tracks will be condensed into audio CD format for your listening pleasure - preserved for the perfect rip for the ravers of 2040 & maybe even 2080 if we’re lucky!

Whether it’s through an infinite source of cheeky-yet-accurate emoticons, a spirited giggle in the club, or just rocking the decks with your friends at the best party like maybe ever, pi pi pi ultimately exists as a force for connection & invites us all to take a part in it’s next adventure - always bridging the gaps between dream, reality, party, gathering, conversation, remembrance, authenticity, & the abundant desire to share & pass it on.
